How do I submit my classified ad?
Classifieds can be emailed to ads@secondhandnewsonline.com; faxed
to 336-846-7569; phoned to 336-846-7469; mailed to 402 School Ave,
West Jefferson, NC 28694; or dropped off to our office at 402 School Ave. in downtown West Jefferson (a block past Arts Center at corner of Hice Ave). |
When do I
have to submit my ad to get it into Thursday's paper?
Secondhand News must receive your ad by noon on the Tuesday
before the Thursday of publication. Ads receieved after this deadline
will be published in the following Thursday's paper. |
When I use
the online form to submit, renew or cancel an ad, why don't I see
my changes online right away? The website is only
updated once a week on Thursday mornings. All new ads, renewals
and cancellations submitted prior to the Tuesday at noon deadline,
will take affect when the website is updated on Thursday morning.
All changes sent in after the deadline will be added to the website
the following Thursday. |
What is the cost to run
my classified ad? Personal classified ads are FREE. However,
if you operate a business or buy and sell certain items on a regular
basis, whether you use a business name or not, your ad is considered
a business classified and will cost $3.50 per week. |
What are
business ads? If
you operate a business or buy and sell certain items on a regular
basis whether you use a business name or not, your ad is considered
a business classified. Other ads considered
to be business classifieds include: business service ads (construction,
repairs, lawn maintenance, etc.), employment ads, home based businesses,
commercial tree farms or anyone advertising Christmas trees, real
estate ads for properties which are listed with a real estate agent,
vehicle ads submitted by dealers, and dog/cat breeders. Business
ads cost $3.50 per week per ad. |
How do I pay for a business classified?
Secondhand News
does not accept credit cards. However, you can drop a check in the
mail (P.O. Box 979, West Jefferson, NC 28694) or you can stop by
our office in West Jefferson at 11 N. Jefferson Ave (across from
Friendly Shoe Store). |
How long will my FREE ad run? Secondhand
News will run your ad for two weeks. If your item does not
sell during this time, simply call/fax/email us and we'll renew
it for another two weeks. If your item sells right away, let us
know and we'll remove it for the next issue. You can renew your
free ad for up to 3 times, for a total run of 8 weeks. After 8 weeks,
ads will be $3.50 each, per week. |
How do I search the Secondhand
News website for a specific item I'm looking for?
Goto the web page of the category where the item you are looking
for will most likely be found. Then, click the "Edit"
drop down menu on the toolbar at the top of your browser, and click
"Find" or use the shortcut Ctrl + F (Command + F for Mac
users). Type in the item you are searching for in the search box
and click the "Find Next" button. Your search word will
be highlighted on the web page. |
How can I advertise my
business on your site? Web banners
are available - your business logo/name and website link can be

Where is the printed Secondhand News
delivered to ? 12,000 copies of the
Secondhand News are delivered to pick up spots located in Ashe,
Alleghany, Avery, Watauga and Wilkes Counties in North Carolina,
